Lokpal and Lokayukta are institutions established to address corruption in public offices in India.
Lokpal is a national-level anti-corruption ombudsman, created to investigate complaints against public functionaries, including the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, and Members of Parliament. It was established by the Lokpal and Lokayukta Act, 2013 to promote accountability, transparency, and integrity in the government.
Lokayukta serves a similar purpose but operates at the state level. Each state in India can establish its own Lokayukta, which investigates allegations of corruption against state government officials, including ministers, public servants, and others in authority.
